The Paediatric First Aid course is designed for individuals who work with or care for infants and young children, including nursery staff, childminders, teachers, teaching assistants, and childcare providers.
This qualification meets the first aid training requirements set by Ofsted and the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework.
The course provides learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond to a wide range of paediatric first aid emergencies, helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in their care.

The course includes extensive hands-on practical training, ensuring learners gain the confidence and competence needed to respond effectively in emergency situations involving children.
Learners are assessed throughout the course using a combination of practical demonstration and written assessment. Participants must successfully complete both the practical and written assessments to achieve the qualification.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid certificate, which is valid for three years.
Annual refresher training is recommended to maintain knowledge and confidence.
After three years, learners must retake the full course to renew their qualification.
Certificates remain valid for 3 years from date shown on the certificate.
